Amal Foundation

2017 Year in Review

What a year to celebrate as Fondation Amal turned 5 years old!

In May, we invited guests to kick up their heels at our signature event Gin & Jazz. Held at la Gare Viger, we brought together chefs from 5 amazing Montreal restaurants: Le Pois Penché, Imadake, Suwu, McKibbins Irish Pub and Bird Bar, that allowed guests to discover 5 tastes: Sweet, Sour, Salty, Bitter and Umami. With a live Jazz Band followed by Dj Nyan Narine, and prizes at the silent auction, guests had their hands full dancing and mingling throughout the evening.

Recently, in early December, we co-hosted along with Jonas Tomalty a Jam Night Fundraiser (at Rosewoods where local Montreal musicians got together for a cause and jammed the night away. We also held our first distillery tasting event – Vice Versa , where Scotch from Dalmore and Jura houses were paired with a 3-course Japanese-Fusion meal from Thazard restaurant.

Our partners from Mad Science helped spread joy and fun and by conducting science experiments for our friends from Centre Philou, who provide care to children with multiple impairments; and for the MAB Mackay Centre School, who provide education to deaf and disabled children. These sessions allow the children to forget about their illness or disability, all the while learning the fun side of science.

A few other initiatives from our Board Members throughout the year helped raise funds, such as Shave for a Cause, a Masquerade dinner and a Pizza dinner.

Be on the lookout for more fun activities to come in 2018! If you’d like to get more information on how to get involved and make a difference, either by volunteering time, talent, or donating gifts or funds, reach out to us at info@fondationamal.ca! We guarantee you a rewarding experience!
